Bone densitometry is a test that measures bone density and the mineral content of bone in a person's body. The test is safe, accurate, and painless. During the test, the patient is required to lie still on a table while the equipment scans two areas: the lumbar spine and hip. The test is extremely helpful in diagnosing and evaluating osteoporosis.
