Our staff works harmoniously with our highly skilled and professional Physicians, Pharmacists, Care Managers, Nutritionists, Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists striving to provide the best patient care and outcomes available in the Erie Area.

Our 48-bed Acute Medical Oncology Unit is an excellent choice for nurse graduates who are interested in caring for general medical-surgical oncology adult patients. We also attract many experienced nurse who find our unit both challenging and rewarding. Our mix of new graduates and experienced nurses work well together in a cooperative environment achieving high standards of care.

The 7 South Acute Medical-Oncology Nursing Unit functions within the following premise. Level of Care:

  • 48 private patient rooms
  • Variety of diagnoses including Cancer, Blood disorders, Kidney failure, Peritoneal Dialysis, Pneumonia, DVT, Respiratory illness, and GI Disorders.
  • Nurse to patient ratio: 1:5 - Day/Evening and 1:6 – Night shift
  • Closed unit utilizing on call if needed
  • Bedside shift nurse report

Specialized Unit Technology:

  • Equipment: Lift, Blood Glucose Monitoring, Medication Administration Check system (MAK), Alaris Smart Pump, In-room computers
  • Monitors: Remote Telemetry
  • Designed rooms for special patient needs: Rooms 718-725 “Clean Area”, Rooms 701 & 726 reverse airflow isolation
