The 4 South and Hip and Knee Unit employs a multidisciplinary approach to patient and family care, and is dedicated to helping patients learn more about their specific problems and what can be done to help alleviate their pain and return to an active lifestyle. The staff provides extensive preoperative education to complement its highly individualized and specialized postoperative care.

Level of Care:

  • Types of patients: Orthopedic, Trauma, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neuro-trauma
  • Number of Beds: 48 on 4 South
  • Number of Beds: 11 on Hip and Knee Center
  • Average Daily Census: 46 on 4 South and 6 on Hip and Knee Center
  • Nurse-Patient Ratio: 5:1 on days, 5:1 on evenings, and 8:1 on nights
  • PCA Patient Ratio: 6:1 days, 6:1 evening, and 12:1 nights
