Visiting Medical Students
For information regarding visiting rotations at UPMC Hamot, please contact Marilyn Carner in the Medical Education Department by e-mail, carnerme@upmc.edu, or phone, 814-877-3301, at least two months prior to the requested rotation start date. The Medical Education coordinator will confirm the acceptance of the rotation by the attending physician, set up the visiting medical student’s orientation session, and assemble the required paperwork.
No later than two weeks before the rotation begins, the visiting medical student or the student’s sponsoring institution must provide:
- A Letter of Good Standing
- Certificate of Liability Insurance
- Updated Health and Immunization Records and provide:
- Blood work verifying immunity to varicella, rubella, rubeola and mumps.
- Results of a Mantoux PPD test for tuberculosis within the current year (or two
tests within 30 days of each other if a Mantoux test has never been done or if it
was not done the previous year). - Proof of a Tdap vaccination, after 2005, with the Adacel vaccine.
- Criminal Background Checks:
