Pharmacy Overview

Hamot Medical Center offers a residency in pharmacy practice. The program is flexible, progressive, individualized and precepted by experienced and dedicated practitioners. It is designed to ensure competence, build confidence and foster independence. The Pharmacy Department at Hamot has a comprehensive list of pharmacy services including 24-hour automated and computerized drug distribution, unit-dose, IV admixture, decentralized distribution, drug information, renal dosing program, pharmacokinetic monitoring, drug therapy monitoring and specialized clinical consult services. The Pharmacy Practice Residency is a one-year, ASHP-accredited program. Emphasis is placed on effecting rational and cost-effective drug therapy in a community hospital through the provision of clinical pharmacy services. Development of writing and speaking skills is also emphasized.
