The Hamot Women's Hospital

On May 18, 2009, Hamot unveiled a sneak peek inside the Hamot Women's Hospital. The artist's renderings show the main lobby, birthing suites, ante and post partum rooms as well as the spacious Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

The Hamot Women's Hospital, set to open in early 2011, will allow Hamot to offer state-of-the-art services exclusive to women's health in the most modern physical facility.

Having a facility dedicated strictly to women's health is unparalleled in this region. This hospital will encompass the broad range of women's services through our Hamot for Women program including heart health, breast health, orthopaedics, neuroscience, plastics, psychology and more.

Once complete, Hamot expects to have more than a dozen OB/GYN physicians practicing at the hospital. With that increase, we expect to deliver 2,500 babies each year and perform at least 2,000 OB/GYN surgical procedures.

Other facts and figures:

  • The Hamot Women's Hospital is $50 million project.
  • We expect to bring 200 jobs to the community through the Women's Hospital, including:
    • Nurses
    • Anethesia personnel
    • OR, L&D and post partum employees
    • Other ancillary services
