John T. Malone

President and Chief Executive Officer, UPMC Hamot
John T. Malone is president and chief executive officer of UPMC Hamot. Since coming to Hamot in 1975, Mr. Malone has served in many capacities, including administrative assistant, vice president, vice president of Regional Health Services, and senior vice president of Hamot Medical Center. He then served as president and chief operating officer of Hamot Medical Center from 1989 until his appointment as CEO of Hamot Health Foundation (now UPMC Hamot) in 1992. He also served for seven years with the United States Air Force Biomedical Services Corps, where he attained the rank of captain.

Mr. Malone earned a bachelor's degree from the Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, N.Y., and an MBA from the Golden Gate University in San Francisco. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and was named Hamot Ambassador of the Year for 1992.

Mr. Malone is a Board member of the Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership. He is past chairman of the United Way of Erie County Board of Directors and a current Board member, a member of the Hospital and Health System Association of Pennsylvania, a member of the Board of Visitors of the School of Business at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, past chairman VHA Pennsylvania Board of Trustees, a member of the VHA Pennsylvania Board of Trustees, a Board member of Therapeutic Riding of Erie County, and an honorary Board member of the Achievement Center. Mr. Malone is a past president of Health Management Associates of Northwestern Pennsylvania and the Hospital Council of Erie County.
