Debbie A. Burbules, RN, BSN, MPA

In October 2009, Debbie A. Burbules was named president of UPMC Hamot Women's Hospital. She also serves as senior vice president of Outpatient Services at UPMC Hamot.
As president, Ms. Burbules works on integrating the hospital's physicians and employees into the Women's Hospital, as well as uses her expertise in women's services to ensure that the Women's Hospital delivers the highest level of care for women and their families in this community.
Ms. Burbules joined Hamot in 1979 as a registered nurse, working in the cardiac stepdown and dialysis units. She has also held director positions at Great Lakes Home Healthcare and Hospice. Specifically, Ms. Burbules assisted in the startup and direction of Great Lakes Home Healthcare and Hospice, in the development of the Palliative Care Program and in the development of outpatient infusion services at the Infusion Center. In addition, she was involved with the Health Connection during her tenure. Prior to her most recent role, she served as vice president of Outpatient Services and as women's service line leader.
Ms. Burbules received a master's degree in public administration from Gannon University. She also holds a bachelor's degree in nursing from Villa Maria College.
In 2008, Ms. Burbules was recognized as one of 12 women in the Erie region who was "Making History." She is a member of the Community Health Net Board of Directors. She also serves as president of the Great Lakes Home Healthcare Services Board of Directors. She has previously served on the Children's Advocacy Center Board of Directors in addition to being president of the Pennsylvania Homecare Association, a member of the Great Lakes Diabetes Institute Advisory Group, and member of the Surgery Center Board of Directors.
