Charles F. "Boo" Hagerty
President, Hamot Health Foundation, and Chief Development Officer, UPMC Hamot
Charles F. "Boo" Hagerty serves as president of Hamot Health Foundation, the philanthropic arm that supports quality patient care at UPMC Hamot. He also serves as chief development officer of UPMC Hamot.
In these positions, Mr. Hagerty provides leadership for all philanthropic programs and initiatives Hamot Health Foundation conducts. Mr. Hagerty works with a talented team to raise more than $3 million per year for the advancement of UPMC Hamot's programs and facilities, technology and equipment, education and scholarships, and community health initiatives. This includes an innovative school-based health care model that will deliver care to children and their families who have limited access to basic primary care services.
Additionally, Mr. Hagerty and his team have collectively worked on UPMC Hamot's workforce development program and a K-12 health care program that will work with area schools to promote health care careers. Additionally, he oversees programs that benefit employees and patients in times of need.
As a member of the executive management team, Mr. Hagerty also provides counsel to UPMC Hamot leadership and the Board on matters relating to philanthropy. He is also responsible for the strategic planning efforts of all UPMC Hamot philanthropic programs.
Mr. Hagerty joined Hamot (now UPMC Hamot) on Sept. 2, 2000 as the vice president of Marketing and Corporate Communications. He also oversaw UPMC Hamot's Patient Services and Education departments. He began his current role in the summer of 2010.
Mr. Hagerty received a bachelor's degree in advertising from West Virginia University. Throughout his career, he has served on the boards of many local nonprofits in the Erie community and currently serves on the boards of ACES (Americans for the Competitive Enterprise System) and the Erie Zoo. He is also a member of the advisory board for ERIEBANK. In addition, he shares his vast marketing, philanthropy, and leadership experience by serving as a guest speaker locally, regionally, and nationally.
Mr. Hagerty's wife, Aimee, is a clinical nurse education specialist at UPMC Hamot and a full-time nursing instructor at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. They have five children: Brendan, Kirsten, Maria, Kaitlin, and Alex.
